You just met one of my favorite supporting characters.

Vlad the Kazera.

The kazera are the last remnants of dragonkind, survivors of their cycle’s apocalyptic end. Well, the last unless you count the lizards.

Legend of the Storm Hawks offers only an inkling of who and what they are, but they feature prominently in the later Rootstock Saga books.
