Storm Hawks Chapter 4 Extra: Farsight and Mindriding
Farsight and mindriding are the first of several mindgifts hinted at in Legend of the Storm Hawks.
Gaven sees the Camrans chasing them, though they are miles away.
Farsight is a genetic adaptation which is beginning to appear in the Aurel bloodlines. It augments the sense of vision beyond the physical constraints of distance by perceiving and following light waves to their source.
Someone with farsight is a farseer.
The stronger the mindgift, the greater distance the farsight can perceive. Farsight is only sight. No sounds. No scents. Only images that fade as time moves on.
Mindriding is the telepathic projection of one’s will onto another creature. It often manifests as a talent for training collies, birds, or horses. In this chapter, Seth stops the stampede by willing the big bull to turn course.
As with other forms of telepathy, this genetic adaptation augments the awareness of the subliminal collective consciousness evidenced in many life forms and extends the electrical energy of thought patterns beyond the synapses of one’s own brain.
Mindriding is the rarest of the mindgifts and the most feared. It seldom extends beyond the ability to influence beasts.
Seth and Gaven are unaware of their mindgifts as yet and could not name the reason for their peculiar experiences.
