Heart of a Chalyn: Chapter 67
Brynmohr held onto his name. Melt into the One? No, he has too many wayward children who need someone around to keep them out of trouble.
This is another chapter I deleted and added back. More than once.
While I needed to address what happens to Taegan and Serena, I could have done it with a few lines of expository catch-up in another chapter.
But I wanted Jenna and Brynmohr to have closure.
Theirs was a bittersweet love story. Full of half-truths and regrets that kept them apart. Hurts that never healed.
If Brynmohr had survived his injuries at the Battle of Twelvestones, which he did in the first iteration of the saga, he would have been the one traveling to Tallu after the war instead of Nigel. He and Jenna would have reconciled and made peace with their pasts. He would have mentored Ava and Rory instead of Palomar stepping in.
But, that would have cheapened his sacrifice. He was willing to die for his people, and he did.
So, I raise a toast to one of my favorite characters, and wish him the best.
Here’s to you, Brynmohr.
