Altamaha River
Georgia’s Altamaha River inspired one of my favorite settings in Tallu. The river is depicted as deeper and wider in Rootstock and maybe not in exactly the same location as you’d find on a map in our cycle. Known as Georgia’s Little Amazon, the Altamaha is a majestic, other-worldly treasure in any of this world’s incarnations.
I imagined the tree town of Veridian in one of its cypress-filled oxbows.
And seriously, who wouldn’t be inspired by cypress knees? Gnarly little gnomes come poking up out of a black-water swamp around the feet of a tall cypress tree trunk that looks like like melted wax. Yeah, definitely candidates for the other-worldly tag!
The Savannah Morning News ran a series of articles on the Altamaha recently, which prompted me to add this to the Roostock Inspiration posts. I love this river.
