rhi
Since earliest recorded Rhynn history, the clan chiefs able to call up the largest armies claimed the title. Before customs shifted and narrowed over the centuries, women bore the title as often as men.
Derived from the Aurelic word for protector, the rhi was both ruler and warrior, able to defend the land his or her clan and allies claimed. The Rhiem of Rhynn judged according to clan law and dispensed punishment and reparations accordingly.
At the time of Joren’s invasion, six rhiem ruled the domains they and their forebears had carved out in Rhynn:
Chief Lauris Camran, the Rhi’Camran
Chief Berol Connor, the Rhi’Connor
Chief Jesse Iverach, the Rhi’Iverach
Chief Samsan Cuthbert, the Rhi’Aleron
Chief Roderan Talfryn, the Rhi’Talfryn
Chief Bernand Brunet, the Rhi’Gaurenne
